Best Internet Banks

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The online banking trend has caught up quite fast with bank customers in recent years. Even traditional, and oftentimes rigid, banking institutions are now pushing their websites and online presence through heavy advertising and promotions.

In a world that is becoming dependent on Information Technology for commerce and other activities, it pays to be at the top of developments. And in this case, it means having an online presence.

People all over the globe are looking to the Internet to make their lives easier. And online banking is just one way to simplify many things like managing financial resources, investments, bill payments, and money transfers, among many others. It also helps that people with Internet bank accounts earn a higher Annual Percentage Yield than those who still go to a branch to deposit or withdraw their money.

The Best One for You

An Internet bank account should be able to work for your convenience. The least a bank can do for you is give you interest for your savings. And even with this service, you still have a lot of choices among the different APY rates available.

Advancements in Information Technology have enabled many breakthroughs in terms of service and business possibilities. When choosing an Internet bank, consider the capabilities of the institution to harness and make use of these possibilities. There is no use in getting an online account when your transactions are processed at the same rate that they would be if you visited a bank branch.

Remember that with an Internet account, you have entered a borderless world of possibilities. You can engage in multiple investment plans, monitor your savings interest rates, transact business anywhere in the world, manage your forex, and transfer money as fast as you want it, among many other advantages. So be sure to choose an Internet bank that can guarantee this kind of seamless service.

What is a FICO Score Chart?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

How much do you know about your FICO score chart? I hear you! You have a vague idea that a FICO is some sort of a score has something to do with credit, but you aren’t sure. You are asking yourself “What is a Fico Score chart, and why is it something I need to know about?” If this term leaves you scratching your head in perplexity, read on.

FICO stands for Fair, Issac and Company. A it is the summation of the score from the three major national credit bureaus, Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. Each bureau keeps a credit file on you, starting back when you got your first credit card, and each bureau has its own method of calculating your score. . When you request a copy of your credit report, you will also receive your score in chart form.

What Is On This Chart?

Several variables are listed in the chart, and the credit bureaus give each its own numerical score. A rather precise and complex mathematical model is used to calculate your credit score from this information, some of which is listed below -

Amount that you owe on open credit accounts
Whether or not you have been delinquent on any accounts
The total number of bank cards and credit cards that you have
How many credit accounts you may have that carry a balance owed
How many credit accounts you may have that are NOT credit card accounts, but with banks or finance companies
Your account payment history and how long it has been established
How many inquiries your credit file has had by other creditors in the last 12 months
If the total balance owed is close to the total monetary limit on ALL your credit cards.
How long a period of time your credit has been established
How often you actually use your credit accounts
Whether or not any of your accounts have ever been turned over to a collection agency.
How close together you have either opened credit accounts, or have has inquiries made on them.
Whether or not you have any cards/accounts that have a zero balance.

When you get your own FICO score from your credit report, you might wonder how your score stacks up with the scores of other people in the United States.

13 percent of the population has a credit score between 800 and 850.
27 percent of the population has a credit score between 750 and 799
18 percent of the population has a credit score between 700 and 749
15 percent of the population has a credit score between 650 and 699
12 percent of the population has a credit score between 600 and 649
8 percent of the population has a credit score between 550 and 599
5 percent of the population has a credit score between 500 and 549
2 percent of the population has a credit score between 300 and 499

Your FICO score chart is the key to your credit rating, and as such, should be guarded carefully. Taking control of your score is the key to your financial future.

South Carolina Unclaimed Money Grows To 200 Million Dollars

Image : http://www.flickr.com

As of October 2007, it was determined by the Office of the State Treasurer of SC that the state is currently holding $200 million that belongs to citizens who need only step forward and claim it, if they can find it. Despite increased efforts to reunite South Carolina unclaimed money with its rightful owners, which lead to a record return of $900,000 in Sept. 2007, the pile of cash continues to grow.

Each year, South Carolina, like most states, continues to take in more money than it’s able to return to the people. The primary problem is the fact that most people are completely unaware that these funds even exist, which is obvious, or they’d never have forgotten about them long enough for them to be considered “unclaimed”. Even those who have learned about the billions of dollars in unclaimed property all across the country usually don’t know how to go about finding them.

South Carolina is what is known as a “custodial state”, which means that they never actually own your assets, they just hold them for you, and there is no time limit under which you must claim your cash. While there are dozens of different types of unclaimed property, the state treasurer lists the following as the most common types under the Palmetto Payback Program: “dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks (including paychecks), unclaimed insurance proceeds, forgotten utility deposits, uncashed dividend checks and unexchanged shares of stock.”

SC unclaimed money is handed over to the state treasurer’s office after long periods of inactivity. These periods are known as “dormancy periods”, and each type of unclaimed cash has it’s own. Some are only a year, while many years must pass for some types of funds to be handed over to the state. On top of that, a state employee must physically enter the account information in to their system if there is to be any public, searchable record. For these reasons, it is important that anyone who is serious about finding their missing money, search often and search on the right sites.

Some sites promise a database, but more often than not it’s anything but reliable. Not only are they often out of date, but some are just down right bogus. These sites use “teaser” searches to hook a sucker by telling them they are due X amount of money, when that dollar amount is really completely random. Essentially it’s a dishonest sales tactic.

In addition to knowing where to search, people also need to remember to search outside of South Carolina. Many folks have moved to South Carolina after spending their lives in many other states. Others may have always lived in SC, but if they had an insurance company out of state or the corporate headquarters of an employer is based outside of the state, then there’s a good chance they’re still owed money, but S. Carolina will never have any record of these funds. It is important to search the state records of any state where a person may have had any type of business dealings.

It can’t be overstated, having the assistance of unclaimed money experts in your search for unclaimed money is vitally important. An expert in this field can help you overcome all the issues that plague many searchers, including the few mentioned in this article.

7 Tips to Help You Get a Credit Card Limit Increase

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Many credit card holders would like to obtain a higher credit card limit. The main purpose for this is that a higher credit card limit enables the purchase of otherwise unaffordable merchandise.

First of all, credit card holders need to remember that to get a higher credit card limit, they must abide by the terms and conditions of the issuing credit card company or bank.

Here are seven tips toward obtaining a higher credit card limit:

1. The most important thing to do toward getting a higher credit card limit is to prove your credit worthiness. This is the first thing that banks and companies look for when approving a higher credit limit.

2. Always spend within your credit card limit. Doing so communicates to your credit card lender that you are capable of controlling your expenses.

3. Use your credit card regularly. Don’t keep your credit cards for emergency use only. If you use your credit cards just occasionally, banks and credit card companies will be unable to understand your spending and payment behavior. By using your credit card minimally, most banks and credit card companies will be reluctant to give you a higher credit card limit.

4. Don’t make minimum payments. Instead, try to pay for the entire outstanding amount. This method of repayment will usually give you a better chance of getting a higher credit card limit.

5. Attract positive attention from the credit card company or bank by paying interest finance charges once in a while. Obviously, this is not advisable on a continual basis and should only be used as a last resort to increase your chances of getting a higher credit limit.

Proving to credit card companies and banks that you are good borrower can be a convincing way to get a higher credit limit. But be careful because this strategy also means that you will be paying finance charges which can accumulate in a hurry.

6. Avoid late payments. Not only will your payment increase, but you will also have to pay an additional fee for late payment. This will also decrease your chances of getting a higher credit card limit.

7. The best and simplest strategy for obtaining a higher credit card limit is to use your credit card wisely. Always keep in mind that credit card companies keep a record of your transactions and payment patterns, so always pay your credit card bill on time.

The bottom line is that your performance on record at your bank and credit card company will determine whether you’ll get a higher credit card limit or not.

And always remember, a higher credit card limit means greater purchasing power, but it also increases the risk of your having to pay greater interest charges and other processing and late fees if you have difficulty repaying the higher balances.

Picking The Right Paint For Your Bedroom

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Painting Your Bedroom is an inexpensive way to get a whole new look, however some people find it to be an overwhelming task to choose a color or type of paint. Many simply stare at the thousands of color swatches in the store and then walk away confused without ever picking out a color!

If you want to paint your bedroom, the first step is to select a range of colors or color theme. That way, when you go into the store you can narrow down your selection of color swatches to those in that general color shade.

If you want your bedroom to evoke a certain mood, some colors have shown to be better at evoking certain emotions or moods. Calming colors are soft colors – blues, greens, and lavenders in a muted shade. Anything too vivid or bright will not be calming. If you are decorating to have a calming effect these colors go quite well together. You could punch it up a bit with some brighter accents in the same colors but with a different tone. I like a sage green for the walls with some light sky blues and lavenders sprinkled around the rooms Bedding, wall coverings and flooring can be a solid color to keep the calm mood going. Accent with candles and perhaps a table top waterfall.

On the other hand, you might want to paint your bedroom so that it energizes. Maybe you want to wake up in the morning ready to go! Then you might want to try bright colors like reds and yellows with maybe a bit of orange thrown in. I love the look of deep red walls even if it may take several coats to cover! Yellow and orange make a nice color combination – maybe a bit 70’s so you could do a nice retro design with these colors. Tone it down a bit by using brown as an accent. Of course, you can always use red with black and white for a classically contemporary look. And there’s always a white room (bedding, walls, and floors) with bright red, yellow, blue and orange accents for a mid century feel that will liven up the place.

For a more elegant type of bedroom, you may opt for tans of off whites. These can match very well with some darker, rich colors like maroon, gold, or even black. Use some deep jewel tones to create a romantic but calming feeling. Gray and brown can be a nice modern color palette – use deep colors not light and you will be surprised how this can give the room a cozy feel that is a bit more modern.

Another choice you may have to make is if you want to use traditional paints or get an effect on your walls with special effect paints. You can add texture to your walls with paints that have texture build in, or use special paint to get the look of marble or old world plaster.

Some of these use solvent based glazes and others have specially made paint just for that particular look you want. A trip to your local Home Depot will find these paints as well as free classes on how to apply them.

Decorating From The Heart

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Although my career title is Instructional Designer, designing documents and training, on screen and off, is not my only passion. I truly love to design rooms, homes, patios, etc… I’m not a “follower” so to speak of Feng Shui but I do believe they are on the right track when they speak of keeping each room in your home free of clutter. Especially those rooms where you wish to be very productive, such as a home office.

I absolutely love the home decorating channels and shows on cable television, for I gather most of my ideas and incentives from them. I do believe each room should have a theme that is followed throughout. Take a week or two to view the room with no elements and come up with a plan on paper first. Spend an hour or two in the Home Depot paint aisle and see what you can come up with as far as a special color for your theme. It could be an African jungle theme, an Ocean/Beach theme, or even a Sunrise theme.

After you have your plan on paper and colors chosen and the painting is completed you can move to the chore of window treatments. Remember to stay with the theme of the room when choosing between blinds or curtains. When that is complete, if there is nothing to be done with the flooring, you are ready to move in your existing or new furniture.

If you have selected to replace your old furniture, great! One tidbit I would offer is to remember to stick with the theme even in your furniture selections. For example does your theme invoke a dark cherry wood or a light, airy oak finish. Or perhaps white for white beach sands. ;-)

I can honestly say that most walk-in stores will not have what you are looking for. To the Web! I say. You can find exactly what you want, something no one else will have, and add that personal touch to your new room. Remember that in order to keep elements from clogging your floors and dresser tops, use unique shelving and bookcases to store memorabilia and other trinkets we all love to display and hold onto. And definitely consider California closets to get the most storage space out of your closets. You could even do it yourself! Check the Organization aisle at your local Home Depot or Lowes type stores.

After the furniture is in place you are ready to dress the wall or walls with just the right artsy touch. Select a picture that goes with your theme or has a touch of the wall color in it to really bring out the room. Here are the last elements you may wish to add: a plant or tree (fake, if you are like me), a table waterfall or fountain, or floor fountain, or zen garden, and scented candles.

I would recommend this site for fountains: http://www.simplyfountains.com/indoor-fountains/2084+2086.cfm?viewall=yes The options for indoor fountains are wall, tabletop, floor, and more!

I would recommend the store, Pier 1 Imports, for unique candle holders and candles. Candles do not just set on the tabletop anymore; they can set on the floor in tall holders which provide depth to any room. Pier 1 also offers unique mirrors that other stores would not carry. I would not recommend hanging mirrors in the bedroom (see Feng Shui handbook) but other rooms are fine for adding depth as well.

I hope you found my tidbits helpful. I can honestly say these are great tips because I receive an overwhelming amount of compliments and rave over the rooms in my home. Decorate with your own ideas and lots of love and your home will exude warmth and radiance beyond your expectations. You’ll want to be in it all the time!

10 Saving Gas Tips to Increase Your Mileage & Save You Money

Image : http://www.flickr.com

With the soaring prices of gas, people are beginning to pay close attention to their gas consumption and search for ways to increase their mileage. Over the years many studies have been conducted on which gas saving tips work best and which have little to no impact what so ever. In this article you will discover the top 10 gas saving tips to help keep more money in your pocket.

Saving Gas Tip #1: Convert your car to a Hydrogen Hybrid.

If you have done any research online within the past year on gas saving tips you have probably ran across websites offering Hydrogen Kits for cars and trucks. These are DIY kits that can be built for less then $100 using parts found at your local Home Depot. If you are not familiar with these kits I highly recommend checking them out. Many people claim to increase their gas mileage by 35 – 40%.

Saving Gas Tip #2: Keep your tires properly inflated.

Buy a quality tire gauge and check the pressure of your tires. Make sure they are inflated according to the manufactures recommendations. Under inflated tires require additional horsepower to rotate, thus consuming more gas. Most cars list the recommend tire pressure on a plate on the inside driver’s door. If you cannot locate it their it will be listed in the owner’s manual.

Saving Gas Tip #3: Lighten up your load by removing unnecessary weight.

Don’t go crazy and rip out your back seats or the insulation but get rid of anything in your trunk, glove box or in the back of your car that you absolutely don’t need. Shedding off weight allows your engine to not work as hard to accelerate the car forward thus using less fuel. This won’t be a huge savings unless you make it a habit of keeping your trunk full of crap – but every bit helps and will add up.

Saving Gas Tip #4: Slow down Mario Andretti

Accelerating aggressively forces your vehicle to use maximum gas to achieve your desired speed. Many test have proven that gradual acceleration has a significant impact on your gas consumption so slow down and see what kind of saving you achieve.

Saving Gas Tip #5: Turn on cruise control when you can.

You will get your best mileage when using your cruise control but only is you are traveling on a straight road without hills. If there is minimal traffic and you are on a long stretch of highway then turn it on and reap the rewards. Using cruise control in high traffic or roads with hill will have the opposite effect due to the car constantly accelerating/de-accelerating to maintain your set speed.

Saving Gas Tip #6: Fill up at the coolest time of day.

Fuel is denser when it’s cool so filling up in the morning or late evening will allow more fuel in your tank.

Saving Gas Tip #7: Remove bicycle or ski racks when not being used.

Not only will removing the extra weight help but more important you will be reducing the drag making your vehicle more aerodynamic. This could have a significant savings over a long trip.

Saving Gas Tip #8: How about carpooling?

This is not always the preferred method due to inconvenient sometimes, but it’s the single most efficient way to reduce your monthly fuel cost.

Saving Gas Tip #9: Cash in by getting a credit card with 5% rebates on gas,

Here is an easy way to knock off 5% off your fuel cost by using it for all your fill ups.

Saving Gas Tip #10: Give your car a tune up.

This is only beneficial if your vehicle is due for a tune-up so don’t go out and spend money on a tune up if you just had one several thousand miles ago.

Gas pricing got you worried…not me. I discovered a way to lower my fuel cost and increase my mileage by 40%. Discover how and watch informative videos here:

Picking Safe Power Tools

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When using power tools, safety is the most important thing to consider. Some men will try to use the “I don’t have the right tools” excuse in order to buy the latest toys at Home Depot, but in reality it is important to use the correct tool for the job in order to be safe.

Some of the popular brands of tools are DeWalt, Black and Decker, Skil, Craftsman and many others. Dewalt power tools are renowned for the long lasting power available in their cordless line of tools. Bosch powered tools are designed for low sound emissions as well as low vibration Bosch power tools are designed to aid in the workplace by being built to withstand the punishment professionals give their tools in the rush to finish work on time.

As far as the maintenance aspect of such tools, common sense is again of the highest importance. The four most common power tools that most do-it-yourselfers buy is the circular saw, jigsaw, router, and sander. When buying power tools keep in mind that most consumer reviews indicate that you generally get what you pay for. Regular maintenance and tuning of tools will keep them operating at recommended levels, and always get appropriate training in using the tool and using the right power tool for the job. Many hardware stores will give you a free demo and in some cases a full blown class on proper tool usage.

As an extra benefit, today’s tool manuals not only have better graphics showing its users what each part of the device should look like (and what to do when it doesn’t), many individual manufacturers will have explicit directions and instructions for the safety and maintenance of each individual power tool.

What if you’d rather rent than buy? If you have to rent any tools, look them over very carefully before you leave the shop and make sure that they are in good usable condition, and have no apparent safety issues.

Finally, when picking out the right powered tools, be sure to purchase them from a business that sells everything you need to run your tool safely and can give you the best advice on which tool is right for the job at hand.
